TriHealth to Expand Services with Butler County Land Purchase
November 9, 2006
In response to the overall community needs and the population growth in Butler County along Interstate 75, TriHealth officials announced they have purchased 15 acres of land from Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. The $3.6 million purchase is part of TriHealth’s longterm growth strategy and allows for a defined presence in Butler County. The land is part of 65 acres recently purchased by Cincinnati Children’s.
The property located in Liberty Township at Butler Regional Highway and I-75 offers TriHealth the ability to build a medical facility to serve its growing patient base. The population in Liberty Township is growing at a tremendous rate, tripling to 33,000 since 1990, and is expected to more than double to 86,000 by the year 2030.
“We are constantly looking at ways we can improve service and access to TriHealth’s quality health care. At the rate Butler County is growing, we need to start planning now for how TriHealth will serve this growing market,” TriHealth President and CEO John Prout said. “This land offers us the flexibility to study the needs of patients in this region and develop a long-term plan that will address the community needs well into the future.”
Development of the land is anticipated to begin in 18 months to two years with preliminary plans to include adult ambulatory services with a full array of outpatient services as well as primary and specialty care physician offices. Over the course of the next several months TriHealth will undergo a complex planning process to best match the services offered in Butler County to the needs in the community.
“We anticipate being able to apply our knowledge and expertise from Bethesda Medical Center at Arrow Springs to something that will benefit our Butler County patients,” Prout said. “We have already experienced a great deal of success at Bethesda Arrow Springs since opening. We are truly committed to increasing our capacity to care for patients in all areas of the region."
