Try a Facelift Massage for Younger Looking Skin

Keith Kaplan, a massage therapist at the TriHealth Fitness and Health Pavilion, discusses Bellanina Facelift Massage during Local 12’s Ask the Expert segment.

Bellanina Facelift Massage is a facial massage technique used to help promote younger, smoother, healthier looking skin. “It’s a very pampering, relaxing massage that actually makes you feel better and younger,” Keith explains. “It gets rid of lines, wrinkles, and possibly blemishes, as well. It just makes you feel wonderful.”

Facelift Massage: How it Works

Keith begins the massage with general relaxation massaging. Then, he moves into massaging techniques designed to draw blood to the surface of the skin, which encourages healing and muscle toning. “What makes this different from facials is the actual contouring we do,” he points out. “The contouring involves a little heat, a little gentle acupressure and some percussion.”

How Many Facelift Massage Sessions Do I Need?

A series of six to 12 one-hour massage sessions are recommended for optimal results.

However, Laura Lee Evans, a 51-year-old facial massage patient says that after the first session, “I looked in the mirror and felt like my skin was a little tighter. Some of the lines between the eyes were sort of diminished. It was wonderful.”

Keith also gives his patients “homework” for younger looking skin, as part of the treatment, which includes the “honey technique.” The honey mixture is comprised of honey, molasses, glycerin, orange blossom and water. The stickiness of the solution helps pull the skin up and away, stimulating blood flow to the surface of the skin.

Part of this homework involves performing the “whipping technique” on your own (watch video above for instructions), which gives you facial muscle memory. “Once you tone the face, the muscles have memory, and once we get that going, you can actually build on it,” Keith says.
