The Good Samaritans’ 28th Annual Gala – Groovy Blast from the Past - raised more than a half a million dollars ($504,000) to benefit Good Samaritan Free Health Center of Price Hill and the Medical Education Research Fund.   The raised amount is an all time record for this annual fundraising event.

Nearly 700 supporters of Good Samaritans Foundation gathered at the Hyatt Regency Cincinnati on February 11, 2012. Guests were treated to a cocktail reception followed by a gourmet dinner. After dinner in the Regency Ballroom, guests danced the night away to the sounds of the 60s and 70s.  The event was an explosion of light with flashing necklaces and rings, wigs, mirror ball centerpieces, groovy dancers, Andy Warhol style photos, “faux” tye-dye T-shirts and a vintage bar featuring the famous Sloe Gin Fizz, Tequila Sunrise and Whiskey Sours.

Good Samaritan Hospital Medical and Dental staff generously underwrote the Entertainment and Room Décor and PNC underwrote the Dinner Entrée.  In addition to being corporate sponsors, AK Steel Corporation and Turner Construction Company underwrote the Hors d’oeuvres and Salad and Dessert Courses.  Other corporate sponsors included:  Fifth Third Bank, Group Health, Hatton Foundation, Macy’s, Phillips Supply Co., SC Ministry Foundation, Sisters of Charity, and TriHealth, Inc.  These substantial underwriting and sponsorships donations had a considerable impact on the fundraising efforts for this event.

The Good Samaritans is a dedicated volunteer organization of Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation and includes members with ties to the medical and business community. The Good Samaritans have raised more than $5.6 million in their history. This year’s Gala Chairman was Renita Homan and her Co-Chairman was Cyndi Cappel. They worked diligently with other Gala committee volunteers and with physician champion Marc A. Alexander, MD.
