Behavioral Health and Psychiatry

The Behavioral Health Department at Good Samaritan Hospital provides professional, compassionate mental health treatment for Adults and Senior Adults experiencing a wide range of symptoms associated with depression, anxiety and other mental health disorders or substance abuse.

Treatment: How it Works

Through the Behavioral Health Services you can expect:

  • Individual and group-individualized, goal-oriented treatment
  • A therapeutic environment
  • Family meetings when appropriate
  • Comprehensive discharge planning and assistance with aftercare
  • Psychotropic medications and information about benefits, side effects, etc...
  • Psycho-educational groups and health maintenance instruction
  • Information about appropriate after-care community resources
  • Nutritional assessment and education (inpatient only)
  • Vocational assessment services
  • Interim case management and coordination with community mental health providers
  • Assessment and treatment of acute medical conditions co-occuring while receiving psychiatric care

Interdisciplinary, Comprehensive Care

Care is provided by an interdisciplinary team consisting of:

  • Board-certified psychiatrists
  • Certified Nurse Practitioners
  • Nurses
  • Psychologists
  • Social Workers
  • Occupational Therapists, Recreational Therapists and Art Therapists
  • Nutritionists, Chaplains, Physical Therapists, Respiratory Therapists, Primary Care Physicians (inpatient only)

How to Access Behavioral Health Services

  • To access care in either the Adult or Senior Adult Behavioral Health Department you may go to either the Bethesda North or Good Samaritan emergency departments for an evaluation or call (513) 862-2850.
  • To access care in the Partial Hospitalization Program or Intensive Outpatient Program call (513) 862-2823.

Insurance

The Good Samaritan Hospital Behavioral Health Department is a Medicare and Medicaid provider. Most private insurance plans are also accepted.
