Bethesda North and Good Samaritan hospitals are area leaders in cardiac surgery, together performing about 700 cardiac surgeries each year and offering dedicated nursing units for heart surgery patients that allow them to remain in one room for their entire post-surgical stay. Services include traditional open heart surgery, minimally invasive procedures and robotic-assisted heart surgery options for bypass surgery, valve repair and replacement, and arrhythmia treatment.
The Good Samaritan Weight Management Center offers gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy and Lap-Band procedures to help those with out of control weight live healthier, longer lives. The expert, professional staff also offers patients nutritional, exercise and lifestyle education. The Center is accredited by the American Society for Bariatric Surgery.
Obstetrical and gynecological surgery at Bethesda North and Good Samaritan hospitals focuses on the following areas: vaginal hysterectomies, which can be performed via abdominal, laparoscopic, robotic or supracervical; infertility procedures, such as microtuboplasty; and vaginal reconstructive procedures including sacrospinous vaginal suspension, vaginal vault suspension, vaginoplasty, paravaginal repairs, and recto and vesico vaginal fistula repair. Other surgical methods consist of laparoscopic and hysteroscopy procedures, and sub-urethral slings for urinary incontinence.
