Dr. Schuermann is married with three children two girls and one boy. His wife is also a physician and practices psychiatry with special training in addiction medicine. Prior to joining Samaritan Ob/Gyn, he completed four years of active duty service in the United States Army Medical Corps. The majority of his time was spent at Ireland Army Hospital in Ft. Knox, Kentucky, where he was chief of the women's Health Services.
