About the Skin Cancer Center
The Good Samaritan Skin Cancer Center
is a one-of-a-kind service in Greater Cincinnati provided by Group Health Associates (GHA) and Good Samaritan Hospital. The Skin Cancer Center provides an innovative service to decrease the amount of time from diagnosis to treatment of skin cancer. As a “virtual” center, it operates out of several physician offices, with complex procedures performed at Good Samaritan Hospital.
How does the Skin Cancer Center work?
Let’s say you find a suspicious looking spot on your skin. You’re not sure what it is so you ask your primary care physician (PCP) to look at it. Your PCP wants to have the spot seen quickly by a dermatologist. In the past, you may have had to wait many weeks or months to see a dermatologist because of the shortage of available appointment times. You wait and worry rather than receiving the necessary care.
The Skin Cancer Center eliminates the waiting and the worrying often associated with potential skin cancers. Our multi-disciplinary medical staff has dedicated appointment times for patients needing to be seen right away. Your PCP can contact us and we will call you to set up an appointment.
You also have the option of calling the Skin Cancer Center yourself to schedule an appointment. We’ll ask you a series of questions to determine if you need to be seen quickly through the Skin Cancer Center.
If needed, follow-up care can be easily and quickly coordinated as well. All your care, from diagnosis to treatment to follow-up care, is handled by a coordinator, dedicated to helping you through the entire process.
Routine screenings and non-skin-cancer-related dermatological needs will not be addressed during these priority appointments. For a list of dermatologists please refer to the TriHealth online physician directory.
