Electromyography and Nerve Conduction Velocity
Electromyography (EMG) and Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV) are diagnostic tests performed and interpreted by a physiatrist to investigate evidence of a neuromuscular disease (such as carpal tunnel syndrome). A physiatrist is a medical doctor with sub-specialty training in physical medicine and rehabilitation. The physiatrist is involved with the diagnoses and treatment of neuromusculoskeletal diseases.
EMG and NCV testing does require a physician referral.
