TriHealth On Call: Colonoscopy Leads to Successful Treatment of Kate's Colon Cancer
“Colonoscopy” can be a scary word for many, but it shouldn’t be. This important procedure is easier than its reputation implies. It’s not painful, prep has improved to be easier on the patient and most importantly, it saves lives.
The earlier colon cancer is detected, the better the chances for survival. This was the case for Kate Ryan, who is featured in this segment of TriHealth On Call. Kate shares her experience of being diagnosed and successfully treated for stage three colon cancer. She is joined by Rashmi Tadiparthi, MD, a gastroenterologist with the TriHealth Digestive Institute, who adds that not only do colonoscopies help with early detection of cancer, they help identify precancerous lesions which can be removed before cancer ever develops.
