TriHealth On Call: Safe Prevention of Strokes With TCAR

Thirty-three percent of all strokes are caused by a blocked artery in the neck. A new clinically-proven, minimally invasive approach to treating severe carotid artery disease is limiting the risks and shortening the recovery time associated with traditional treatment options.

TriHealth is the first health system in Cincinnati to offer this new procedure called TransCarotid Artery Revascularization (TCAR). In this segment of TriHealth On Call, Brian Kuhn MD, a vascular surgeon with the TriHealth Heart Institute, talks about this innovative treatment and why it's a safer option for treating carotid artery disease. In Addition, patient Jerry Nelson talks about his quick recovery after recently undergoing the TCAR procedure.
