Health Talk Live: Vaccine Hesitancy & Second Dose Jitters

Did you know that you more than 100,000 times more likely to develop a blood clot if you contract COVID-19 than from receiving the Johnson & Johnson Janssen vaccine? Or that taking birth control pills or smoking also put you at a significantly higher risk than the vaccine?

Kevin Joseph MD, TriHealth’s Chief Medical Officer shares these statistics with Local 12’s Liz Bonis in this segment of TriHealth’s Health Talk Live, which addresses not only concerns over the Johnson & Johnson Janssen pause, but also second shot jitters for those who receive the first dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines. While acknowledging the potential for stronger side effects, he reminds viewers of common long-term effects of COVID-19 which can be worse than one or two days of feeling bad. He also reiterates that reaching herd immunity through vaccinations is the only way for us to get back to normalcy and is joined by Makenzie, a patient who explains why she received her second dose to allow her to get back to safely doing the things she loves.
