Health Talk Live: Vaccines, Variants and Concerns Over Heart Inflammation

COVID-19 numbers are down, but the risk is still up. Some of that has to do with the emergence of the new Delta variant. In this segment of TriHealth’s Health Talk Live, Local 12’s Liz Bonis speaks with Stephen Blatt MD, Medical Director for Infectious Diseases at TriHealth, who talks about this highly-infectious variant and why it poses a higher risk to those who are not vaccinated. He also addresses reports of mild heart inflammation from the vaccines and why those concerns should be significantly greater for those who actually contract COVID-19.

Liz also speaks with Marla Silliman, TriHealth’s Senior Vice President of Hospital Operations for Good Samaritan Hospital about the continued effort to get the vaccines out to people and why it is important. She also speaks with Mark Witte, TriHealth’s Vice President of Clinical Service Lines about the danger of undiagnosed cancer and other diseases due to a decrease in very important regular health screenings and tests.
