Dr. Ghandi On Diet Drinks Linked to Strokes

A recent study raised questions about the correlation between diet soda and the likelihood of stroke or dementia. The study found that people who drink one diet soda a day are associated with having slightly higher stroke and dementia rates when compared to people who don't consume those drinks. But, it's important to understand that just because there is an association with something doesn't mean there is a direct causation. Dr. Gaurang Gandhi talked to Liz Bonis from Local 12 about how it's also important to consider that some people who drink diet drinks with artificial sweeteners are doing so because they are at risk for hardening of the arteries from sugar, which is also linked to stroke and possibly dementia.
