TriHealth has many structures and processes in place that allows your professional practice to flourish. Professional development enhances professionalism by creating a work environment where professional practice and nurse autonomy are valued and supported. We offer many opportunities for professional development.
Your transition to practice at TriHealth is important to us. We offer a formal Clinical Coach Program that is designed to foster a welcoming atmosphere for newly graduated nurses and newly-hired nurses, to promote learning, acceptance, and a sense of belonging. The clinical coaches and unit educators are responsible for the assessment of learning needs, identification of goals and the implementation of an orientation plan. In addition, we have a Professional Nurse Residency (PNR) program. The PNR is a formal program designed to support new graduate nurses during their transition into practice at TriHealth. The residency program consists of six scheduled sessions that occur during their first full year of being a new registered nurse. Simulation lab sessions are included to help enhance critical thinking skills.
TriHealth has a strong affinity for education and has many existing affiliations with colleges and universities. To encourage continuing education related to career opportunities at TriHealth, standard full-time and part-time employees may apply for tuition reimbursement up to the established maximum based on employment status. In addition, TriHealth offers cohort programs for undergraduate and graduate degrees. These programs are offered with very limited cost to the nurse. We offer new enrollment classes annually at various schools.
TriHealth believes that patients, families, employers and nurses all benefit from certification. Certification provides patients and their families with validation that the nurse caring for them has demonstrated experience and knowledge in their specialty area. TriHealth participates in many specialty certification programs that allow the test taker two attempts to pass at no cost to them. These programs include ANCC Success Pays, AMSN Fail Safe, ONCB Retest for Success and ONCC Free Take. If your specialty certification is not part of one of these programs, we have a regular pre-payment or reimbursement process through corporate nursing.
Clinical Ladder Program
The Clinical Ladder Program offers career alternatives for staff nurses in a direct caregiver role who seek professional growth and advancement. It provides the opportunity to reward and recognize excellence in nursing practice. The purpose of the Clinical Ladder Program at TriHealth is to: provide a structured process that acknowledges the nurse who strives for continuous improvement in nursing practice; recognize and reward the nurse for demonstrating clinical excellence; and to promote excellence in nursing practice thus enhancing quality patient care. TriHealth’s Clinical Ladder Program has four levels and you start at level one when you are hired. You have the opportunity to advance to higher levels through an application process. You must be in a direct caregiver registered nurse role at TriHealth for one full year before you are eligible for advancement.
Professional Organization Support
Nursing professional organizations can accomplish incredible feats through networking, connecting, and actively engaging the nurses who strive to make improvements in the profession of nursing. TriHealth’s Professional Organization Liaison Program supports active involvement in professional organizations. Every nursing unit has the opportunity to participate in the program. The unit pays the cost of membership and in return that liaison remains actively involved by attending meetings, reading newsletters and journals, and attending the conference if able. The liaison brings valuable information back to the unit and shares during staff meetings.
