All participants will be able to:
- Optimize recognition and timely triage and treatment of neurologic emergency patients to improve patient outcomes
- Understand how a transitional rehabilitation program supports patients after they leave the inpatient setting and funding sources for coverage
- Outline current medical and nursing best practices in caring for stroke patients
Participants can choose from the following individual learning tracks:
Surgical Track
Discuss the surgical management of aneurysms and cardiovascular Interventions
Review of guidelines in stroke prevention and TIA including diagnostic workups, anticoagulation management, dual antiplatelet therapy, and surgical management of carotid stenosis including TCAR procedure.
Emergency/EMS Track
Discuss the medicolegal consideration for emergent recognition and treatment of acute ischemic stroke (AIS), TIA management, and early-antithrombotic for suspected AIS
Understand the latest updates on opportunities for treating stroke patients presenting in the expanded treatment window or with unusual presentations.
Rehabilitation & Recovery Track
Highlight current rehabilitation technology advancements and its impacts on stroke recovery
Discuss the sequela of complications directly caused by urinary incontinence post stroke, post-stroke depression, and how medications play a role in recovery using an interdisciplinary approach to post-acute stroke care in the acute rehabilitation setting.
Inpatient & Secondary Stroke Prevention Track
Explore the indications for hyperosmolar treatment, continuous brain tissue oxygen (Pbt02), quantitative EEG monitoring, and epileptic considerations in cerebrovascular patients
Understand the secondary stroke preventions for patients with patent foraman ovale, surgical complications, multiple chemical sensitivity, and sleep apnea as it relates to cerebrovascular disease.
