Complete spectrum of stroke care

Good Samaritan and Bethesda North hospitals are designated Advanced Primary Stroke Centers by The Joint Commission. They meet national standards of care and provide safe, high-quality treatments to our patients.

Our stroke team has a long history of experience and innovation and is the region’s only team that covers the complete spectrum of stroke risk assessment, preventive care and emergency stroke care.  The Institute has the specialized imaging and clot-retrieval devices for treating patients who have suffered large-vessel strokes and are eligible for thrombectomy.

The stroke team includes the region’s only surgeons who are dually trained in open and endovascular (in-the-artery) neurosurgery for the treatment and prevention of stroke, brain aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations and other neurovascular disorders. The surgeons coordinate with radiation oncologists to provide the very best treatment plan and medical guidance for patients and their families.

Multidisciplinary Brain Tumor Team

Mayfield and TriHealth brain tumor specialists meet regularly at Tumor Board to review challenging cases and recommend treatment plans. The Tumor Board includes neurosurgeons, radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, pathologists and the region’s only fellowship-trained neuro-oncologist. The team reviews brain tumor scans and patient histories, discusses possible treatment plans, and arrives at a consensus opinion, which is presented to the patient and his or her family.

The brain tumor team treats all types of tumors, including glioma/glioblastoma, metastatic tumors, skull base tumors, meningioma, pituitary tumors, acoustic neuroma, lymphoma and spinal tumors. Advanced technologies available include intraoperative Airo® CT, stereotactic neuro-navigation, stereotactic radiosurgery, microscopic and endoscopic surgery, and systemic and intrathecal chemotherapy.

From Routine to Complex Spine Care

The TriHealth Neuroscience Institute offers the full spectrum of spine care, from non-surgical injections and pain blocks, to minimally invasive outpatient surgery, to complex fusions and spinal reconstruction for scoliosis and other spinal deformities. Image-guidance and robotic technologies enhance surgical precision during spine surgery. Our elite surgical teams often work in pairs during staged operations that take place over 2 to 3 days.
