At Bethesda North, we offer hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which increases the amount of oxygen in the bloodstream to help wounds heal more quickly.
The patient breathes 100 percent oxygen in a hyperbaric chamber at greater than atmospheric pressure. The increased concentration of oxygen stimulates the formation of new blood vessels develop and healing accelerates. This therapy is typically five days a week, with each session lasting two hours. Patients may watch television, adjust their bed, and communicate with their technician during treatment to maximize comfort.
