Hematuria (Blood in Urine)

Hematuria is defined as the presence of red blood cells in the urine. It can be characterized as either "gross" (visible to the naked eye) or "microscopic" (visible only under the microscope).  The presence of blood in the urine is not always an indicator of a serious health condition, but it should always be evaluated.  Lab tests, MRI/CT studies or cystoscopy can be used to evaluate your urinary tract. Treatment plans will be based on your physical exam, symptoms, test results along with the cause of hematuria.
