Orthopedic and Neurosurgery Clinical Trials

Good Samaritan Hospital’s Orthopedic Center of Excellence has the distinction of being awarded The Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval for commitment to quality and excellence. Important success drivers for the center include a total joint patient registry, an initiative to reduce adverse events titled ”Zero in on Zero”, and multidisciplinary collaboration between hospital staff and orthopaedic surgeons representing several physician practices within the Cincinnati area.

The registry database, as well as recent randomized clinical trials, serves as a clinical science research “engine” that will further establish Good Samaritan Hospital and the TriHealth Hatton Research Institute as an orthopaedic research center of distinction. The physician driven registry is IRB-approved and bolstered by patient consent. The robust database will support numerous research projects to include implant designs, surgical techniques, strategies to reduce adverse events (surgical site infection (SSI) elimination, allogeneic transfusion avoidance, postoperative patient fall reduction), and long-term outcome improvements. Additional benefits to Greater Cincinnati patients and society include the potential for this registry to be used by other total joint programs in the near future.
