Crosstown Concussion Crew Educates Students About Concussions

The Crosstown Concussion Crew is an innovative new program has been developed by the TriHealth ThinkFirst Injury Prevention Program and funded by the Mayfield Clinic with the goal to educate young people about concussions. 

Students from the University of Cincinnati and Xavier University will work with each other and with Concussion Crew faculty to present the information via four breakout hands-on stations. One activity will demonstrate how concussions impact cognitive functioning. Another will feature concussion goggles to show the visual impairment of a low grade concussion. A third activity will give an overview of brain anatomy to show functional problems that may arise due to a concussion. The fourth activity is about sideline assessment and how to identify a concussion on the field.For more information:

Sanjiv Lakhia, DO and Greg Lynn, ATC from TriHealth's Heads Count Concussion program will also be a part of the Crosstown Concussion Crew to provide their expertise in the field.

The Crosstown Concussion Crew is a collaboration of TriHealth ThinkFirst Injury Prevention Program, TriHealth Sports Medicine, Mayfield Clinic, University of Cincinnati, Xavier University, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital-Speech Therapy.
