Identifying disease early to allow for less invasive treatment options and better outcomes is the goal of McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital. We offer screening vascular ultrasounds on a self-requesting basis (without the need of a physician's order) on the first Tuesday of every month. Screening ultrasounds differ from diagnostic ultrasounds in that screening ultrasounds identify the presence of disease (not the extent of the disease) in the abdominal aorta, carotids and leg arteries.
Benefits of screening vascular ultrasounds have been recognized by the Society for Vascular Surgery, through the American Vascular Association Screening Program. McCullough-Hyde provides vascular ultrasounds through a contract with Midwest Ultrasound, Inc. McCullough-Hyde and Midwest Ultrasound assure that screening vascular ultrasound studies meet the clinical recommendations of the Society for Vascular Surgery.
Screening vascular ultrasounds are not covered by insurance companies at this time. The cost of all three screening vascular ultrasounds (abdominal, carotid and legs) is $99. If you choose to have only one or two exams, the cost is $40 per exam. The interpretations will be sent to both you and your physician.
