Doctor on Call: Safely Resuming Surgeries

With the lifting of restrictions in Ohio on surgeries requiring an overnight stay, local hospitals, including TriHealth hospitals and surgical centers are now able to offer a full range of surgical treatments that may have been pushed back due to COVID-19. In this segment of TriHealth’s Doctor on Call, David Kirkpatrick, MD. A vascular surgeon with TriHealth Surgical Institute, and Regional Chief Medical Officer of TriHealth’s Bethesda North region, talks about how hospitals are able to safely resume those and other services and why patients should feel confident in their safety and not delay surgery or seeking treatment for an illness. In fact, he mentions that many patients are sicker than the average prior to March, because they stayed home later, so now is the time to seek help.

Dr. Kirkpatrick also discusses the success of our region in controlling spikes in COVID-19 thanks to the responsible actions by people in our community and regular collaboration and communication between regional hospital leaders.
