Stephen Blatt MD, medical director, TriHealth Infectious Disease, explains whether he’s seen a spike in flu cases this year as well as flu prevention tips.
“Reportedly, the vaccine is better matched to these strains in the community this year so we’re hopefully that we’ll see less flu cases this year,” Dr. Blatt points out.
However, colds and other viruses can still be easily passed around, especially during holiday gatherings with friends and family.
Dr. Blatt’s main advice is to:
“If there’s a child who has a viral illness, perhaps they should not be slobbering all over grandma,” he adds.
Additionally, sneeze into your sleeve, as it’s hard to avoid germs people pass if you’re directly in the line of fire.
