Three TriHealth Doctors Earn Medical Management Certification

Three doctors in leadership roles at TriHealth recently earned the status of Certified Physician Executive (CPE). CPE status is awarded based on a candidate’s stature as a physician, educational achievements, medical management experience and completion of a four-day, skill building certification program.

CPE certification indicates a candidate has reached a level of excellence within the medical management profession, with management education, knowledge and demonstrated skills, to effectively lead an organization.

Michael A. Bain MD, CPE, FACEP is the Director of Emergency Medicine at TriHealth’s Bethesda Medical Center Arrow Springs and is employed by Qualified Emergency Specialists. Dr. Bain also serves as the Lead Informatics Physician for TriHealth. Dr. Bain attended medical school at the University of Cincinnati and completed residency in emergency medicine at University of Cincinnati Hospital in 1990. He has practiced for 22 years in a 70 member group where he has served as a managing partner. He has served as Medical Director of Emergency Medicine at four hospitals and is certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.

Dave Dhanraj, MD, MBA, CPE, FACOG is Medical Director of the TriHealth Faculty Medical Centers for both Good Samaritan and Bethesda Hospitals and is Director, Division of Gynecology, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Good Samaritan Hospital. Dr. Dhanraj attended medical school at Indiana University and completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Good Samaritan Hospital in 2003 where he went on to serve as associate director of the OB/GYN Residency Program for five years. He joined the faculty of Wright State University School of Medicine as Director of Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery during which time he earned an MBA in finance.

Kurt Knochel MD, CPE is Chair of Emergency Medicine at TriHealth’s Good Samaritan Hospital, where has been an emergency physician since 1991. He earned a BA in Religion from Wabash College and his MD from Indiana University School of Medicine in 1988. Dr. Knochel completed his Emergency Medicine Residency at the University of Illinois in 1991. A long-time resident of Green Township, Dr. Knochel serves as the Medical Director for Green Township and Miami Township Fire and EMS.

Drs. Bain, Dhanraj and Knochel join John R. Robinson, MD, FACS, CPE, Georges Feghali, MD, FACP, CPE, and Kenneth Patton, DO, MD, CPE, as CPEs at TriHealth.
