TriHealth Celebrates Completion of $130 Million Bethesda North Master Facility Plan

TriHealth, Cincinnati’s nationally recognized health care system, is proud to mark the completion of a multi-year transformative master facility plan for Bethesda North Hospital with the re-opening of the hospital’s main entrance.

The master facility plan, which began in 2018, involved a $130 million investment designed to enhance patient care by creating a state-of-the-art destination site for heart, vascular, cancer and surgical care, resulting in a greater standard of care and leading to better outcomes.

“Over the last 10 years, TriHealth has prioritized creating a new kind of health care culture. And in order to advance this work, and ultimately our mission to transform health care for the better, it would require us to invest where it matters most - our people, our facilities and infrastructure, our technologies, and our clinical service lines - all in the name of delivering surprisingly human care for the patients we serve,” TriHealth President and CEO Mark C. Clement said. “We are excited to celebrate the completion Bethesda North’s master facility plan as our most recent step in Getting Health Care Right!”

Bethesda North’s master facility plan launched in 2018 with the decision to consolidate TriHealth’s heart surgery programs to Bethesda North’s campus. Two years later, thanks in large part to the generosity of Harold and Eugenia Thomas, the Thomas Comprehensive Care Center opened, providing a full range of world-class heart and cancer care under one roof.

Additional renovations and additions under the plan include:

  • Three new, state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization labs
  • New catheterization lab pre- and post- areas
  • Three additional electrophysiology (EP) labs
  • Two new interventional radiology rooms
  • Renovated endoscopy rooms with pre- and post- areas
  • An updated and expanded Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
  • Renovation of the Emergency Department entrance and canopy

To accommodate growth, the hospital added a new floor equipped with 44 state-of-the-art, comfort enhanced rooms, meaning patients will receive enhanced care during and after surgical and cardio-thoracic surgery procedures. The final phase of the project involved renovating the main entrance, creating a more streamlined design that connects the front entrance to the hospital’s main walkway throughout the rest of the building. Patients as well as team members will have an easier time finding and connecting with services including pharmacy, financial counseling and medical record services.

In addition to Bethesda North’s master facility plan, TriHealth is in the midst of a comprehensive renovation at Good Samaritan Hospital. That $240 million project includes revamping the hospital’s emergency department, surgical offerings and providing additional technological upgrades for specialty services.
