Mary Irvin RN, MSN, MBA, NEA-BC has been promoted to TriHealth senior vice president and chief nurse executive after serving 11 years as Good Samaritan Hospital’s vice president and chief nursing officer.

“Mary’s innovative leadership and collaborative management style are enormously respected by TriHealth nurses and physicians alike as well as by nurse executives across Ohio,” said John S. Prout, TriHealth president and chief executive officer. “She is supremely qualified to lead TriHealth towards patient-centered care that fully utilizes TriHealth’s comprehensive services, its unparalleled standards of clinical quality and compassion, and its organizational integration.”

Before joining TriHealth in 2000 as chief nursing officer of Good Samaritan Hospital, Irvin served as vice president of nursing for Mercy Health Partners for 9 years. Prior to her Mercy tenure, she spent 17 years at Good Samaritan Hospital in nursing and nursing management positions. Irvin is a graduate of the Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing, and in 2008 received the Good Samaritan College of Nursing’s distinguished alumni award. In 2009, the Ohio Organization of Nurse Executives awarded Mary their prestigious Ohio Nursing Leadership Award.

Under Irvin’s tenure as Good Samaritan’s chief nursing officer, the hospital’s patient satisfaction with nursing exceeded national standards, and quality clinical goals were consistently achieved particularly in reducing patient falls, pressure ulcers and medication errors. Reinforcing TriHealth’s reputation as employer of choice, Good Samaritan’s nursing vacancy rate and turnover rate improved significantly setting the bar for other hospitals in the region.

Mary Irvin resides with her family in Mack.
