TriHealth announced today the appointment of Robert H. (Bob) Collins, M.D. and Quint Studer to their Board of Trustees.  They were also named to the board of Bethesda Inc., a co-sponsor of TriHealth.  Dr. Collins and Mr. Studer will replace longtime TriHealth board veterans Michael Haverkamp and Myrtis Powell, both of who come off the Board after their terms expired at the end of June.

Dr. Collins most recently served as the Senior Vice President of Quality and Chief Medical Officer for TriHealth before retiring in 2017 after 34 years of excellent service as both a clinician and medical administrator. He oversaw Clinical Quality at Bethesda North Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, Hospice of Cincinnati, TriHealth Evendale Hospital and Bethesda Butler Hospital, and two freestanding TriHealth emergency rooms.

Dr. Collins implemented and oversaw Leadership Development Programs for TriHealth physicians. In coordination with his clinical leadership team, Dr. Collins operationalized TriHealth clinical quality strategies at the department, service line and unit level. He established policies, programs and processes ensuring consistent clinical practices and evaluation of patient and support services throughout the TriHealth system.

Dr. Collins is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine.  He completed his General Surgery Residency, Fellowship in Vascular Surgery and Renal Transplantation at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, New York, NY. He practiced General and Vascular Surgery from 1983-2006 with Queen City General and Vascular Surgeons Group in Cincinnati.  In 2017, Dr. Collins was named winner of the Business Courier’s Health Care Hero Lifetime Achievement Award as well as being recognized by the Health Collaborative with the Richard M. Smith MD Leadership in Quality Improvement Award.

Quint Studer is the founder of the Studer Community Institute, a nonprofit research-based entity with the goal of improving quality of life. The current focus of the Institute is on early brain development, small business growth and community engagement. Quint also founded the Studer Group, an organization that helps health systems implement evidence-based leadership practices to improve organizational performance.

In 2015, Quint sold the Studer Group to Huron Consulting Group in 2015 to focus on his nonprofit and other business ventures including the Pensacola Blue Wahoos baseball team, which is the Double-A affiliate for the Cincinnati Reds. Quint has over 30 years of experience helping health systems to develop healthcare leaders, improve operations and optimize the delivery of patient care in health systems across the country.

Quint has been recognized multiple times by Modern Health Care magazine as one of the 100 most influential health care leaders in the country.  These skills and broad health care experience as a true “industry expert” will complement our TriHealth board members and prepare us to tackle the challenges of healthcare consumerism, business model disruption and the imperative to deliver greater value in the coming years.
