About Me

Conditions I specialize in
  • Trauma Surgery

Dr. Amy Murphy knew from an early age that she wanted to be a surgeon. She was encouraged by the scientists in her family and motivated by her siblings. She even has a drawing from the fifth grade depicting herself as a surgeon! She earned a bachelor’s degree cum laude in biomedical engineering, the perfect foundation for surgery and the mechanical devices often used in critical care.

Dr. Murphy takes care of patients with trauma and emergency general surgery needs. She also provides postoperative surgical and medical critical care in the ICU. She is skilled in managing ventilators, renal failure after surgical complications and managing cardiovascular issues. Dedicated to providing her patients with the best care, she also believes in keeping families involved. She loves talking with her patients to assess their needs and goals, always respectful of their ethics and beliefs. She encourages everyone see a primary care doctor regularly and get recommended screenings to minimize the chances of having an acute surgical problem.

A Cincinnati native, Dr. Murphy grew up on the east side of the city, but moved to the west side for high school, graduating from McAuley. She and her husband enjoy outdoor activities such as walking, running, hiking, kayaking, biking and golfing.
