About Me

Conditions I specialize in
  • Interventional Spine and Musculoskeletal Medicine
  • Interventional Pain Medicine
  • Pain Medicine

James Bruns, MD, made the decision to become a physician during his senior year of high school after shadowing a doctor for a month. He chose to specialize in pain management because of the opportunity to help make his patients' lives more manageable, more meaningful and more active.

Dr. Bruns is board certified in both anesthesiology and pain medicine, a distinction fewer than 30 percent of all pain physicians attain. He treats primarily adults for any chronic pain, specializing in neck and back pain, along with non-medical treatment of migraine. He previously served as an assistant professor in anesthesia and pain medicine.

Friendly and approachable, Dr. Bruns takes a multi-modal approach to every patient, using both advanced interventional pain procedures and medical management to tailor treatments to each individual. He encourages everyone to take charge of their health, doing everything they can to live better.

Dr. Bruns has been on Cincinnati Magazine's Top Doctor list for the past four years and received the 2016 Rising Star Medical Award from Venue magazine.

Married with children, Dr. Bruns enjoys spending time with family.
