Inspired by his father and grandfather, both physicians in India, Dr. Nagaraja Orunganti also chose medicine to make a difference in patients’ lives and to improve community health. During his residency in India, he discovered gastroenterology and saw the huge potential for immediately improving the quality of life for patients.
With more than 35 years of combined experience in India and the US as a board-certified gastroenterologist, Dr. Oruganti treats adults for problems with the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, liver and pancreas, including GI bleeding. He performs various endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures. He likes to establish a rapport with patients, taking the time to listen to their conditions and concerns. He believes in educating patients to help them understand the importance of lifestyle, diet and exercise on their conditions.
Dr. Oruganti and his wife, a neurologist, have two grown daughters, both pursuing medical careers. He is involved in social causes through religious and non-religious social service organizations. He supports organizations involved in improving community health and education among the underprivileged, in the US and India. He enjoys watching sports, reading, watching movies and traveling.
