Full Body Strength Circuit Workout From an American Ninja Warrior

When your schedule is full and life gets hectic, it can be tough to find time to take care of yourself. But you know the importance of staying fit and you want to make the most of your time at the gym. According to James Wilson, one of the expert personal trainers at the TriHealth Fitness & Health Pavilion and a five-season competitor with NBC’s American Ninja Warrior , using a full-body strength circuit workout can be a great way to build and maintain a strong, flexible and healthy body.

James recommends a workout such as the one below, which elevates your heartrate and works all of your major muscle groups through the use of combination exercises, which are movements that work more than one muscle group at a time.

“Working multiple muscle groups in one movement not only strengthens those muscles, but requires more energy and increases your heartrate and can burn more calories,” he says. “It also requires balance which can improve your stability and core strength over time.”

To maximize your workout, try the following circuit two to three times at your own pace.

  • Incline Treadmill, walk 5 minutes
  • Kettlebell Swing, 15-20 swings
  • Squat with dumbbell overhead press, 15-20 reps
  • Lunge with dumbbell bicep curl, 10-15 each leg
  • V-sit ups on bench, 15-20 reps
  • Standing cable rotation, 15-20 each side

“Try this a few times per week and after three to six weeks, you should notice some changes,” James says.
