TriHealth Selects Jerri Irby as Chief Human Resources Officer

TriHealth, a leading Cincinnati-based integrated health system, has selected Jerri Irby for the role of Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO).

Irby most recently served as Chair for the Human Resources Workforce Practice at Mayo Clinic, based in Rochester, Minn. In this capacity she led all human resources centers of expertise, totaling 140 professionals across the country, responsible for the delivery of expert, high-value services such as compensation and benefits, learning and development, people analytics and engagement and wellbeing programs.

“At TriHealth, we recognize our team members are our greatest asset in our work to get healthcare right for the hundreds of thousands of patients we serve throughout the community,” TriHealth President and Chief Executive Officer Mark C. Clement said. “Jerri’s proven expertise and leadership in the human resources field will ensure we can continue to strategically invest in the current and future needs of TriHealth’s 12,000-plus team members and physicians, enabling them to continue serving patients across Greater Cincinnati with better care, better health and better value.”

Irby will relocate to Cincinnati and begin with TriHealth in June. She replaces David Cook, who left TriHealth in October. Will Groneman has been serving as TriHealth’s interim CHRO.

TriHealth considered nearly 50 seasoned executives for the open CHRO position, and Irby was among more than 10 highly-qualified finalists who were interviewed for the role. The finalist evaluation process involved on-site interviews with more than 50 TriHealth physician leaders, senior leaders, team members, hospital and service line leaders and the HR team, and Irby was the near-unanimous choice.

“I am excited to be joining TriHealth at such a unique time, as the health system is innovating the way patients throughout Cincinnati receive care,” Irby said. “TriHealth has created a strong patient-centered culture among its team that brings its mission to life and ensures patients are seen, heard and valued. I’m eager to become a part of that mission by facilitating the delivery of high-value HR services to all of TriHealth’s current and future team members.”

Irby has a diverse background of experience and has served in senior HR roles across multiple industries including financial services, insurance and manufacturing. Prior to joining Mayo, Irby previously served as the Vice President of Human Resources at Wake Forest Baptist Health (now Atrium Health), leading the Talent Management and Acquisition, Employee Relations, Employee Assistance Program, HR Compliance and HR Business Partnership teams. Over the course of her career, she has supported many companies through successful growth and transformation, helping organizations build and sustain high-performing workplace cultures sought out by top talent.

Irby holds an undergraduate degree in Mathematics from Spelman College, a master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Tech and an MBA from Stanford University. She serves on several national boards focused on the arts, culture and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), and is also a member of The Links, Incorporated, which consists of more than 10,000 Black women dedicated to community service and philanthropy.
