We recognize you may prefer a private room. There are times when our hospital does not have enough private rooms to meet all requests. Priority is given to patients with diseases that require them to be in private rooms to protect them and/or others. If you request a private room but one is not available, you will be placed on a waiting list. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Telephone service is available in your room at no cost. Family may call you directly by dialing the number printed on your phone. Optional TTY (telecommunications for the hearing impaired) service is available upon request. For local calls, push 8 and then the number. For long distance calls, push 8 and then 0. Long distance calls must be collect or credit card.
You will receive a selective menu according to your nutritional needs as ordered by your physician. Please inform your nurse or dietary clerk of any religious or special dietary needs.
Some rooms are centrally heated and air-conditioned. If you do not have a thermostat in your room and the temperature of your room is not comfortable, please notify a member of the nursing staff.
Your hospital bed is adjustable for your comfort. A nurse will explain how to operate the bed. Beds include rails, which are there for your protection. They may be raised at night and during the day if you are resting, recovering from surgery or taking certain medications.
Bed linens will be changed when your caregiver determines it is necessary or when specifically requested by you or your family.
While you can use cell phones in most areas of the hospital, please be aware that in some areas, they are not permitted.
From the moment you're admitted, we work hard to prepare for your transition home. Your physician, nurse and other hospital staff will be working together to develop a discharge plan especially for you. We will have discharge information ready for you, including any medications you will need to continue taking, any instructions for recovery and any follow-up appointments.
