TriHealth’s Bethesda North Hospital has been named one of the nation’s 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals by Truven Health Analytics.
Bethesda North Hospital has been named one of the nation’s 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals by Truven Health Analytics. Truven Health Analytics, formerly the Healthcare business of Thomson Reuters, delivers unbiased information analytic tools, benchmarks, and services to the healthcare industry.
The study examined the performance of more than 1,000 hospitals by analyzing outcomes for patients with heart failure and heart attacks and for those who received coronary bypass surgery and percutaneous coronary interventions such as angioplasties.
This is the sixth time Bethesda North has been recognized with this honor. This year’s winners are being announced in the October edition of Modern Healthcare magazine.
"Once again Bethesda North has been honored as one of the best hospitals in the country,” said John Prout, TriHealth President & CEO. “Being named a 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospital by Truven Health Analytics is a testament to the effort put in by a committed team of our doctors and staff. We are grateful for the recognition and look forward to continuing to set the quality standard in healthcare for our community."
Bethesda North Hospital is one of three hospitals in the TriHealth unified health system. TriHealth provides a comprehensive range of services at over 80 locations throughout Greater Cincinnati and employs over 350 primary care and specialty physicians and surgeons. TriHealth is one of the largest non-profits in the area, providing over $82 million dollars in free or subsidized care in 2011.
“This year’s top 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals have proven that a commitment to deliver excellent care is still attainable in times of economic uncertainty,” said Jean Chenoweth, senior vice president for performance improvement and the 100 Top Hospitals programs at Truven Health Analytics. “The hospitals in this study have achieved higher levels of care and efficiency than their peers, demonstrating incredibly strong focus by cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, and cardiovascular service administrators and staff on basic care and outcomes.”
The study shows that cardiovascular outcomes in U.S. hospitals are improving nationwide. Across all U.S. hospitals, 96 percent of cardiovascular inpatients survive and remain complication-free. Among the 50 Top Hospitals, performance surpasses these high-water marks as indicated by: better risk-adjusted survival rates for bypass surgery patients; lower complication indicies; fewer patients readmitted to the hospital within 30 days of admission; shorter hospital stays and lower costs.
Bethesda North Hospital is part of the TriHealth Heart Institute formed in May of 2011 and offers a network of top employed and independent medical specialists working together to providing advanced, specialized treatment of cardiovascular disease in a comfortable and caring environment at Bethesda North Hospital, Bethesda Butler County, Good Samaritan Hospital and other locations throughout Cincinnati. Recently, the TriHealth Heart Institute began seeing patients at Bethesda Butler County and Good Samaritan Western Ridge. In August 2012, TriHealth announced plans to build a new medical office building in Anderson Township in 2013. This new facility will have a cardiology physician practice, provide cardiology diagnostic services, imaging and laboratory services.
