TriHealth Creates New Structure; Appoints New Hospital Executives

TriHealth has announced the appointment of John R. Robinson, MD, FACS, CPE, as Senior Vice President, Hospital Operations and Robert Collins, MD as Vice President, Medical Affairs, Hospitals for the organization. Both Dr. Collins and Dr. Robinson will begin their new positions on Monday, October 1st. In his new role, Dr. Robinson will report directly to Jerry Oliphant, TriHealth's Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, while Dr. Collins will report directly to Georges Feghali MD, TriHealth's Senior Vice President, Chief Medical Officer and Chief Quality Officer.

"Both Dr. Robinson and Dr. Collins are exceptional physician administrators with proven track records within our organization and medical staffs," said John Prout, TriHealth's President and Chief Executive Officer. "Under this new management model, our hospitals will benefit from a powerful administrator, physician and nursing team with a primary focus on ensuring TriHealth hospitals continue to provide high-quality care our patients expect."

As part of the organizational changes, TriHealth is hiring new Executive Directors for each hospital, reporting directly to Dr. Robinson. The new Executive Directors will be responsible for representing the hospital in the community as well as serving as the connection between the hospital, its team members and physicians, and also producing successful operational and financial results while building a competitive market advantage.

In addition to the new Executive Directors roles, TriHealth is adding a part-time Medical Director position at both Bethesda North and Good Samaritan Hospitals, reporting directly to Dr. Collins. The new part-time Medical Directors are responsible for helping develop, implement and coordinate all aspects of quality assurance, utilization management, clinical policy and procedures and peer review activities.

Recruiting for the new Executive Director and Medical Director positions begins immediately, searching both internally and externally in order to attract the best possible candidates.

Dr. Robinson is currently the Vice President of Medical Affairs at Good Samaritan Hospital. In this role, he leads all hospital initiatives for medical quality and safety. Prior to that, he served as both the Division Chair of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Medical Director of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Good Samaritan Hospital and was recognized as a leading cardiothoracic surgeon in Greater Cincinnati for more than 20 years. Dr. Robinson was at the forefront of cardiothoracic innovation and quality in Greater Cincinnati for two decades and has long been lauded by his peers as a premier advocate of patient care, quality and safety. A native of Pasadena, Texas, Dr. Robinson completed his residency in general surgery at the University of Texas-San Antonio in 1983 and his residency in cardiothoracic surgery from the same school in 1985. He lives in Anderson Township with his wife, Sue.

Dr. Collins is currently the Vice President of Medical Affairs at Bethesda North Hospital. In that role he directs all patient quality and safety issues at Bethesda North Hospital. He is also responsible for the development, updating, usage and monitoring of clinical guidelines. Dr. Collins leads the implementation of the patient safety goals and safety initiatives for the hospital. A native of Cincinnati, Dr. Collins graduated from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1976. He completed his residency in general surgery at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, Columbia University in 1981. Dr. Collins had a long and distinguished surgical career at Bethesda Oak and Bethesda North Hospitals and served in a number of capacities at Bethesda North including Chairman, Department of Surgery, Chairman, Division of Vascular Surgery, Director, Vascular Laboratory. Dr. Collins and his wife, Deborah, live in Cincinnati.

As part of other recent changes to adjust the organization to emerging needs and opportunities, Bethesda North's Chief Operating Officer Sher McClanahan accepted the new role of Senior Vice President, System Clinical and Operational Transformation at TriHealth during the summer. Last year, Pam Shannon was named Vice President of Population Management. David Dornheggen, who served as Good Samaritan Hospitals Chief Operating Officer and Bethesda North's Interim Chief Operating Officer is out on an extended medical leave. We look forward to welcoming David back to the senior executive team upon his recovery. An announcement about David's specific administrative leadership responsibilities at TriHealth will be made upon his return.
