Dr. Joseph Klingen’s interest in medicine goes back to high
school, when he volunteered with a pediatrics infectious
disease unit at a local children’s hospital. He worked his way
through various tasks, including medical research while
in college. He values the breadth of knowledge needed in
infectious disease, as he works with all specialties.
Before coming to TriHealth, Dr. Klingen worked as an
attending physician at Houston Center for Infectious
Diseases. As a board-certified physician, he specializes
in the diagnosis, treatment and management of acute
and chronic diseases caused by bacteria, viruses,
fungi and parasites. He is especially interested in
immunocompromised infections, hepatitis B/C and
pneumonias. Dr. Klingen prioritizes building meaningful
relationships with his patients and their families, gaining a
deep understanding of their care needs. Acknowledging
that treatment plans must adapt to each patient’s progress,
he emphasizes consistent communication. He encourages
people stay current on recommended vaccines and avoid
taking antibiotics unless advised by a physician.
While in Texas, Dr. Klingen met his wife, who is also a
physician. Together, they chose to settle in her hometown
of Cincinnati. He is an avid football fan, enjoys fantasy
football, hiking trips to national parks and traveling.
