A Cincinnati native who always had a love of math and science, Dr. Katherine Meister was exposed to medicine at an early age through her mother, a nurse. She enjoys developing relationships with her patients and was drawn to practice bariatric surgery as it provided opportunities to use her surgical expertise while also sharing the long-term journey with her patients.
Dr. Meister is a fellowship trained surgeon with a specialty focus in bariatric surgery. She works closely with patients to foster a welcoming, supportive and healing environment. Through surgical procedures she can help patients return to doing the things they love to do while also helping alleviate co-morbidities with other disease states. She advises patients to view obesity no different than other chronic diseases. And because of that, she stresses the importance of sticking with the program and scheduling regular follow up visits with your physician to ensure the disease is properly maintained.
Beyond the surgical aspect of her role, Dr. Meister treats the patient as a whole person and works with a multi-disciplinary team of providers on nutritional and psychological aspects of patient treatment plans. Her greatest pride as a physician is witnessing her patients' post-surgical success stories and seeing them enjoying life again.
