For as long as she can remember, Dr. Katia Vela wanted to be a physician and to make a positive impact by helping others. She was drawn to obstetrics and gynecology as a field that brings together surgical procedures and meaningful relationships built over time. She values the opportunity to be present for some of the most significant moments in a woman’s life.
Dr. Vela sees adolescents and adults for comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care, including well-woman exams, contraception management and robotic surgery. She also provides prenatal, delivery and postnatal care.
Dr. Vela believes in assuring that her patients are heard and that they work together to address all concerns. She encourages everyone to work some movement into their days and to recognize that small changes can make a big difference over the long run.
Born in Mexico City, Dr. Vela grew up in Kentucky. She enjoys reading, cooking, sewing and trying new restaurants.
