From an early age, Nicole Onderko, ACNP, has always had a great heart for helping others. As she helped care for her grandparents, she found that her true path in life would be medicine. She found that her true path in life would be medicine. She found her true passion for heart patients during an undergraduate rotation in cardiology intensive care unit. She especially enjoys the intellectual challenges and complexities of cardiology.
As a cardiothoracic surgery nurse practitioner, Nicole cares for patients before and after surgery using the most current research and practices. She likes to create a trusting relationship with her patients using good communication and active listening in a judgement-free zone. She values making connections that provide insight into her patients’ medical conditions far beyond what lab tests would indicate. She encourages everyone to think holistically about health, recognizing that health is more than medicine. Clean eating combined with exercise and spiritual wellness can provide the best life.
A native of Akron, OH, Nicole likes to prioritize her physical and mental health by staying active. She enjoys weight training, being outdoors and trying new activities. Her current favorite outdoor activity is skiing.
