About Me

Conditions I specialize in
  • Gastroenterology

Dr. Tariq Shakoor finds medicine to be a very gratifying profession, one where he can work directly with people to help them live better and where he is constantly learning. He pursued gastroenterology as a specialty back in the late 1970s when endoscopy was revolutionizing the approaches in an advancing field.

With more than 35 years of experience, Dr. Shakoor sees adult patients for a wide range of gastrointestinal concerns. He has a special interest in diseases of the bile duct and the pancreas, and endoscopic treatment of those disorders. He believes in treating his patients as he would like to be treated and always takes a moment to put himself in a patient’s shoes before delivering information about disease and treatments. He encourages everyone to consciously reduce stress levels and to take care of their bodies through good nutrition and exercise long before disease sets in.

Married, Dr. Shakoor enjoys golf, reading and getting together with friends and former colleagues. For 20 years, he has made annual trips to the Sind Institute of Urology and Transplantation, a charity hospital in Pakistan, to volunteer his time as a surgeon and professor.
