Originally interested in genetic diseases, Dr. Victor Gasia-Alfonzo quickly realized he would rather work with patients than do research. He chose to specialize in internal medicine to allow him to treat a broad spectrum of disease and illness in a diverse population. A lack of opportunity in his native country of Venezuela prompted him to move to the United States for his internal medicine residency. He comes to TriHealth after serving five years as a hospitalist.
Dr. Gasia-Alfonzo sees adults for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illness. As a certified lifestyle medicine physician, he also coaches patients in the use of evidence-based, natural lifestyle changes to treat and often reverse chronic health conditions, such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and obesity. He believes in engaging patients in their health and helping them set goals and expectations. He encourages everyone to let food be the best medicine by practicing good nutrition.
Dr. Gasia-Alfonzo enjoys playing and watching tennis. He maintains a blog on lifestyle medicine and looks forward to getting involved in the community.
