Grief Support

Perinatal Grief

Losing a child during the birthing process is a heartbreaking experience no parent ever expects to face. It can feel confusing, sad and lonely. Despite the difficulty, there are many resources at TriHealth that can support parents and families through the grieving process.

Our Bethesda North and Good Samaritan Hospitals have Angel Suites available to patients. These spaces allow parents to be away from the triggering sounds, equipment and atmosphere that surrounds them in a typical Labor & Delivery unit. The suites have comforting items such a seating, books, refrigerators, and cleaning and dressing stations with infant clothes and blankets. Cuddle cots and caring cradles are also available so the family can spend time together before leaving the hospital.

Parents who have experienced pregnancy loss or neonatal death can attend a monthly meeting offered by TriHealth. Parents share experiences and explore the natural feelings of anger, sadness and depression that accompany the grieving process.

Please call (513) 862-1163 for any questions or for additional support and resources.

"That was really comforting to know that we had a place to have some more privacy and be able to grieve how we needed to while in the hospital."
