TriHealth is seeking ambitious, energetic Internal Medicine physicians to join our outstanding Hospitalist team as Nocturnists.

  • Full-time and part-time opportunities are available.
  • Hospital-employed opportunity offering highly competitive pay with additional compensation for both extra shifts and RVUs produced above the floor.

The positions require an Internal Medicine physician (MD or DO) with a current unrestricted state medical license. Candidates should also have unrestricted federal and state DEA certification along with current BLS, ACLS certifications.

Opportunity

  • Work 12-13 ten-hour shifts per month for a total of 148 per year (typically 9p – 7a)
  • Act as attending physician of record on the night of admission for hospitalized patients in Collaboration with other physicians and departments including your fellow fantastic nocturnists
  • Rotate through 3-4 hospitals (2 large flagship hospitals and 1-2 smaller sites with specialist backup and direct patient transfer capabilities)
  • Respond to urgent medical consults on all inpatients. Of note, codes, stroke alerts, and rapid responses are primarily managed by the separate, dedicated ICU teams at our large hospitals where the ICUs are “closed” (procedures and ICU coverage at our flagship hospitals are not required).
  • Perform high-quality medical record-keeping in the EMR in a timely fashion
  • Provide minimal and intermittent resident supervision at the flagship hospitals for a portion of the new admissions as well as admitted patients with acute needs overnight.

Duties

  • Following each patient's treatment and progress from the time they are admitted to the hospital until they are released
  • Maintaining frequent contact with the patient's Primary Care physician
  • Following up on and ordering new tests
  • Adjusting treatment plans as needed to ensure each patient receives the best care possible
  • Working with each specialist, nurse and clinical hospital staff member to integrate patient care
  • Streamlining communication to promote quality outcomes for the patient
