- The TriHealth Way
Diana Halligan has devoted much of her life to the service of others. Even after retiring from her role as a Registered Nurse, Diana has volunteered with TriHealth for almost a decade, primarily as part of the “Healing Touch” Program. Read on to learn more about Diana’s selfless journey and the Healing Touch Program in her own words!
I was introduced to the Healing Touch Program when I was working as a Registered Nurse at Bethesda Oak Hospital.
I had been interested in energy work and one of my co-workers encouraged me to take the level one course. It was the beginning of my journey through all 5 levels of the program.
I continued working part-time as an RN at Bethesda Oak until the hospital closed. Even though I was no longer working as a floor nurse, my ties with Bethesda were still there, between the Healing Touch practice group, the Ohio Kentucky Indiana Regional offerings and the advanced energy medicine courses often held at TriHealth facilities.
When I got to Level four of the Healing Touch Program I became a volunteer at Bethesda North Hospital. I continued volunteering at Bethesda North for about 9 years, even after I had graduated the Healing Touch Program. That experience helped me gain a lot of experience on the oncology floor and in the Cardio-Vascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU). Our main goals with Healing Touch are focused on pain reduction and increased relaxation.
At the beginning of 2025, I answered the call to provide Healing Touch services at Good Samaritan Hospital, and I am now ‘rounding’ on 4-5 units, one day a week.
The main hub is the nursing station, and I introduce myself to the group of team members there, offering mini–Healing Touch sessions to team members as well as to their patients.
Healing Touch is humbling work. People at their most vulnerable time are allowing us to enter their energy field, and we leave our ego at the door—even the time I take to use the hand sanitizer is used to help ground and center myself as I put everything else aside so I can be there for the patient (and family) in the room.
At times, when appropriate, I have invited family to pray—imagine my surprise the first time I heard them giving thanks for my being there, and praying for my being able to continue the Healing Touch work!
