With more than 100 combined years in the field, surgeons George Kerlakian MD, Katherine Meister MD and Kevin Tymitz MD-- bariatricians Nina Gray MD, Christine Wallace MD and our APRN Practitioners Patricia Weisbach and Gina Malott, along with the TriHealth Weight Management Team are Cincinnati's most experienced at helping patients lose weight and gain the skills to keep it off. We use a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach, where our professionals ( to include but not limited to dieticians, psychologists, social workers, nurses) partner with you every step of the way through screening, participation and completion of the bariatric surgery program and medically managed weight loss program. Kerlakian_200xGeorge Kerlakian MD

George Kerlakian MD is a physician and surgeon at Group Health. His expertise in the field of bariatric surgery earned him the additional role of medical director for TriHealth Weight Management.

Dr. Kerlakian has experience in laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass and laparoscopic vertical sleeve gastrectomy, performing more than 1,500 bariatric procedures to date. Under Dr. Kerlakian's direction, Weight Management has earned a comprehensive accreditation with American College of Surgeons and American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.

In addition to his expertise in bariatric surgery, Dr. Kerlakian specializes in general surgery and minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a fellow of the American Society for Bariatric Surgery. At Good Samaritan, Dr. Kerlakian serves as Chairman of the Department of Surgery and Co-Chair of TriHealth Surgical Institute.

Dr. Kerlakian earned his medical degree from St. Joseph University in Beirut, Lebanon, and completed his residency in general surgery at Good Samaritan Hospital.

MeisterKatherineKatherine Meister MD

Katherine Meister is a fellowship trained surgeon with a specialty focus in bariatric surgery. She works closely with patients to foster a welcoming, supportive and healing environment. Through surgical procedures she can help patients return to doing the things they love to do while also helping alleviate co-morbidities with other disease states. Dr. Meister completed her residency in general surgery at TriHealth in Cincinnati and a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at the Cleveland Clinic. Her medical degree is from Wright State University in Dayton, OH. She is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and a fellow of the American Society for Bariatric Surgery. Dr. Meister specializes in bariatric surgery, foregut surgery and general surgery.

Kevin Tymitz MD - bariatric surgeryKevin Tymitz MD

Kevin Tymitz MD is a physician and surgeon at Group Health. He received his medical degree from the University of Toledo and completed his residency at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati. Dr. Tymitz also received additional training in weight loss surgery at Johns Hopkins University as a clinical fellow in minimally invasive, robotic and bariatric surgery and is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and a fellow of the American Society for Bariatric Surgery. He is a member of several professional organizations including the American College of Surgeons, the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, and the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract.

Nina Gray MDNina Gray MD

Dr. Nina Gray is a bariatrician specializing in nonsurgical weight management care. Her passion for preventive medicine fuels her to treat obesity as a chronic condition—no different from diabetes or hypertension. While serving as chief resident of her family medicine residency, Dr. Gray developed a template for primary care physicians to use to address weight issues with patients. This template has since been adopted throughout the TriHealth system.

Now backed by a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses and dietitians, she customizes treatment plans to fit each individual's needs. Dr. Gray reminds patients that this is a life change, not a diet, and is motivated by seeing small incremental changes in patients that will help achieve and maintain lifelong success.

Paul Joseph Rupp MD

Dr. Rupp has been practicing family medicine in Cincinnati for more than 24 years and is now certified in Obesity Medicine. Dr. Rupp completed his medical degree at Wright State University then trained and served in the U.S. Army for eight years as a Family Physician, with two tours in Germany and a year in Bosnia. He became interested in weight management because he could see how his patients’ health and well-being were impacted by excess weight. As part of the TriHealth Weight Management team, Dr. Rupp helps patients with weight loss, maintenance and associated medical conditions. He believes in putting his patients first and working closely with them to make good healthcare and lifestyle decisions.

Christine Wallace, MD   Christine Wallace MD

Dr. Wallace is board certified in obesity medicine with a focus on non-surgical weight management. She is a graduate of the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Medicine and completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Cincinnati. She has broad experience practicing primary care medicine for over 20 years and is pleased to apply her expertise to assist patients with weight loss.

Chelsea Meister PA-C

Chelsea is Certified Physician Assistant. She received her BS in Dietetics from the University of Cincinnati and her Master of Physician Assistant Studies from Kettering College. Prior to becoming a Certified Physician Assistant, Chelsea worked as a Registered Dietician. Building on that knowledge, she now helps patients with non-surgical weight loss, post-surgical diets and weight maintenance.

Patsy Weisbach, AGCNS, APRN  Patsy Weisbach, AGCNS, APRN

Patsy is a Clinical Nurse Specialist with TriHealth Weight Management. She received her BSN from the University of Cincinnati and her MS from Wright State University. Patsy is ANCC board certified as an Adult Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist and is a Certified Bariatric Nurse (CBN). Patsy has a long career with TriHealth that includes caring for bariatric surgery patients in a variety of patient care settings.
