Robotic-Assisted Surgery

The Good Samaritan Center for Robotic-Assisted Surgery is a regional and national pioneer in robotic-assisted surgery. Here's why:

  • We introduced the da Vinci Surgical System to Greater Cincinnati in 2003.
  • Led by renowned cardiac surgeon and global expert on robotic-assisted surgery J. Michael Smith MD, our surgeons and staff have performed the most robotic-assisted surgeries in the region.
  • We offer the widest range of robotic-assisted surgeries in the region, specializing in cardiac and thoracic, urology and gynecology surgeries. We were the first hospital in Greater Cincinnati to offer all of these options.

We continue to break new ground with robotic-assisted surgery. Our accomplishments include:

  • In 2009, we acquired Ohio's first da Vinci Si Surgical System, and we have more of these units than any hospital in Greater Cincinnati
  • The research that's taking place on the Good Samaritan campus at the TriHealth Hatton Institute is leading the way in the development of new robotic-assisted procedures.
  • Additionally, the Hatton Institute is training surgical teams from throughout the United States and around the world in robotic-assisted surgery techniques.
