Mary Kay Heldman, LISW-S, MSW, has been named a YMCA Achiever Honoree by the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati.
She will be honored on Friday, November 16 with 34 Tristate adults for her commitment to being a positive role model for young people at the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati’s 34th annual Salute Gala at the Sharonville Convention Center. Featured artist at the YMCA Salute Gala will be musician and humanitarian Sheila E., who shares the Y's passion for elevating youth and helping them to find and pursue their spark in life.
Born in Mexico and raised in Puerto Rico, Heldman understands the challenges that exist for Hispanic families. It makes her job as a Spanish social worker for TriHealth Perinatal Services that much more important to her. Heldman provides support for Spanish-speaking patients at the Bethesda OB/GYN center and TriHealth Labor and Delivery, coordinates and facilitates the Spanish ThinkFirst safety classes for TriHealth, offers grief support, manages grants and Latin community outreach for prenatal services. She is also an adjunct professor for the School of Social Work at the University of Cincinnati. Heldman also helps her community through volunteer work such as assisting coordinating TriHealth's participation at Cincy Cinco.
The Salute Gala will benefit the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati Black and Latino Achievers College and Career Readiness Program that ecourages young people to pursue their college and career goals. Click here for more information about the event or to purchase tickets..
