Preparing for your Appointment & What to Bring

During your Visit

From the moment you arrive at your primary care provider’s office, we want you to feel seen, heard and cared for.

Our staff will welcome you and ensure your paperwork is in order. We’ll get you back to an exam room as soon as possible. There, a medical assistant or other provider will ask you questions about your health history and medicines and take your vital signs.

Next, it’s time to meet with your primary care provider in the exam room. After brief introductions, the provider may ask you additional questions about your health history, lifestyle habits, medicines and any concerns you may have about your health. They’ll also perform a physical exam.

Depending on your needs, the provider may:

  • Talk to you about necessary health screenings and vaccines
  • Order lab tests or imaging studies
  • Discuss treatment options for any illnesses or injuries you have
  • Discuss any chronic conditions such as long-term medical concerns you have, such as asthma, diabetes or obesity
  • Provide a referral to another provider for specialty care
  • Offer helpful advice about managing your health
  • Prescribe medication

Your appointment is a chance to have an open, thoughtful conversation with your provider. Feel free to ask questions and share concerns. It’s all about supporting your well-being.
