As the health system that delivers the most babies in the Cincinnati region, we are proud to offer high-quality obstetrical care and services to all birthing individuals. Our team of providers and staff would be honored to be a part of your pregnancy and birth, but we know that making the choice to deliver at TriHealth includes more than considering our highly trained clinical staff and state-of-the-art medical environments. Your physical, emotional, and spiritual experiences throughout this journey are equally important, and continuing to create safe spaces to nurture those experiences alongside clinical care is a priority at TriHealth.
We are happy to introduce guidelines that fully support doulas in our care settings because we recognize the many benefits of a doula supported pregnancy and birth, and we respect your choice to include a doula in your maternity care plan. Under these guidelines, TriHealth providers and staff will work together with your chosen doula to help you have the safest birth and best experience possible. TriHealth does not employ or contract with any doulas or doula agencies, so you are free to choose a doula that is the best fit for your individual needs.
Doula are individuals chosen by the patient to provide emotional, physical, and informational support during pregnancy, the birthing process, and postpartum. The goal of a doula is to support the patient through a positive and safe experience.
We welcome your doula’s continuous support throughout your time at TriHealth. Because the doula is not employed or contracted by TriHealth, they will be considered a visitor but with two special exceptions:
The full guidelines can be downloaded here. We encourage you and your doula to review the guidelines together prior to your doula accompanying you to a TriHealth facility. All doulas will be required to acknowledge the guidelines by signing the agreement page at the end of the document and a copy will be included in your chart.
Thank you for considering TriHealth and doula support for your pregnancy and birth. A strong partnership between you, your doula, and your TriHealth clinical team will help to ensure you and your baby have the best outcome possible!
