Doctor On Call: Orthopedic Care During COVID-19

The COVID-19 outbreak and specifically the need for social distancing and preserving critical personal protective equipment (PPE) have impacted when and how patients seek and receive healthcare services. While many non-essential medical procedures are temporarily postponed, care is still available in-person and through increasing options for virtual visits.

This segment of TriHealth’s Doctor On Call features Andrew Islam, MD, an orthopedic surgeon with the TriHealth Orthopedic & Sports Institute, who explains how patients who experience orthopedic injuries or related pain can still receive the care and treatment they need, often through virtual means. He also talks about what types of injuries require immediate in-person care and when and how patients should seek that care.

Doctor on Call is a segment in partnership with WCPO-TV featuring TriHealth physicians answering medical questions submitted by viewers to WCPO. You can submit a question here.
